Kishu Herazao are fishing rods for catching crucian carp created by master rod craftsmen. The production method was established in Osaka in the 1880s, and afterwards production was moved closer to the production area of the raw material used, sasamorpha borealis bamboo, and it became established there in Hashimoto City, Wakayama where it continues to the present day. In the 1920s and 30s, Japan experienced a crucian carp fishing boom, and herazao fishing rods became established, and they remain loved by fishermen today.
